CityProms | Music as soul-food for 12.000 visitors
LEEUWARDEN – An estimated 12.000 people visited the CityProms event. The splendid weather was an added bonus for the fifth edition, which turned out to be a huge success. The theme of this years’ classic music festival was ‘Food for the soul’, blending in perfectly with Leeuwarden’s ambition to become the Capital of taste.
The opening on Friday evening was in safe hands with Erwin Nyhoff, Francis Broekhuizen, Rubèn Plantinga and Philip Curtis plus the Northern Dutch Orchestra, led by Arnaud Oosterbaan and the copper-ensemble Kopergoud.
First, Syncoop warmed up the audience. The perfectly in-sync music group (mainly percussionists) performed the kick-off on Friday evening at eight O’clock, after which Oeds Westerhof (management Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018) accepted the honors for the official opening.
Next year, City Proms will take place on June 24, 25 and 26. For more information go to www.cityproms.nl and Facebook/CityProms.
